3 Steps You Should Take Right Now to Reach Your Goals
I know quite a few talented people. When I’m talking with them, I find myself saying, “You should do that! You would be so good at it!” The answer I would usually receive is something like, “Well, I would but the timing is not right,” to which I might ask, “When is it the right time?”
It’s so easy to motivate someone to go for what they want but when it comes to me making my dreams work, it’s not so easy.
I’ve been wanting to start this blog for a while now. What was stopping me? My fear of rejection. Imposter syndrome. I don’t have a niche OR a plan of action.
What was I waiting for? I needed to pick a niche. I wanted to launch a website. I needed to have all of the details planned out. I needed to learn all of the social media platforms. Not to mention, I have a full-time job and am a full-time mom. Where would I find the time to pursue my blog? I needed to wait until I had everything in order and when I wasn’t so busy.
But, when would all of that happen to make the timing right? Probably never.
If I’m being truly honest with myself, the right time may never come.
What does that mean for me then? For one, I just need to start. I need to stop wasting time waiting for the perfect moment and I just need to do it.
So, here it is.
It’s not anything fancy but I did it.
Now, on to you. What is it that you’re wanting to start but is on pause until the right moment? If I can tell you anything to get you motivated, it would be these three things:

You Don’t Have to Have All of the Answers to Start
If you’re waiting to become the expert on a certain subject, you could be waiting a lifetime. It’s okay to still be learning along the way. Sometimes, not knowing is part of the journey.
Do I know what I’m doing? Nope. Do I have a plan? Kind of. Am I going to do it anyway? Yep.
Create a Tentative Action Plan
Make a list of all the small steps you need to take to meet your goal. Create some sort of timeline so that you can see where you are in your progress. Be flexible in your plan. If you have a setback, brush it off and try again. Your plan does not have to be final.
When I decided I would start this blog, I wanted all the details to be perfect but I know that is almost impossible. Instead of trying to plan out every detail, I wrote down a few things I could do right now to get the ball rolling:
- Decide on a name
- Design a logo
- Purchase the URL
- Create my website
- Write 2-3 articles
- Launch!
That’s it. Whatever happens next is whatever is supposed to happen next.
What I know about life is that nothing is ever constant so I know that once I get this blog off the ground, it may not be what I envisioned in my head but I’m open to embracing challenges and change.
Just Start
Whatever it is you’re wanting to do… start a blog, lose weight, eat healthier, start a business… Just start. If you made a quick outline of the steps you need to take, take them little by little until you reach your goal. You have to keep moving forward though.
I know how scary it is to step outside of your comfort zone but just remember: “Everything you’ve ever wanted is sitting on the other side of fear.” – George Addair.
